This subregion is located in the Central Cordillera, between the mountains of Ayapel and Luke, on the watershed of the rivers Cauca and Nechí. Mining can be considered the most important sector of the economy in the subregion, in fact the story argues that the region suffered population processes through this practice. Other activities include fish farming, agriculture and livestock. The Bajo Cauca region is the scene of the livestock and mineral development of Antioquia. Due to its proximity with the department of Córdoba, culture is a mix of coastal Antioquia and customs that makes its inhabitants are characterized by their joy.
